Really love this scent which they sell in Liberty as well as online.

I bought the “skin food” which doesn’t persist as well as the scent, but the

Feu d’Orange

If you like citrus scents, Feu d’Orange from L’Occitane is fantastic. This unisex scent only launched on 1st February.

£28 for 60ml… as the scented life put it: “Feu d’Orange Eau de Toilette blends fresh and sparkling essential oils of blood orange and citrus fruits from the Mediterranean with woody and intense notes, which enhance the skin with the warmth of their touch.”

Castile from Penhaligons

Got sent a sampler of a fragrance called Castile from Penhaligons.

Very nice, quite spicy with orange notes.

Read the basenotes entry on it or buy it at their online shop (tip: cheaper on ebay).

I had a quick sniff of this when I was in Liberty, the cologne was very pleasant but £50 in Liberty (can’t recall the size of the bottle).

Arlington Range, also available here.

Aftershaves

2 classic aftershaves recommended in the latest Esquire caught my eye:

Vetiver by Guerlain (1961) and Eau Sauvage by Christian Dior (1966)

Whilst looking for these I found an interesting scent review site: BaseNotes.

I popped into Selfridges and had a quick whiff of these two: I prefer the more citrus-smelling Eau Sauvage and have ordered some from eBay.

The best wet shave safety razor ever?

Posted on by 0 comment

There seem to be a lot of satisfied customers of the Merkur Futur Brushed Steel Razor. The replacement blades are much cheaper than more popular brands too…

UPDATE: I have one now, and it really is a superb shave – and the online service I received from Mankind was superb.

Smell Like Cary Grant

Creed Irish Tweed

If you’re getting bored of smelling other people wearing the same CKOne/Gaultier/Brut aftershave as you, it may be time to investigate some of the more obscure fragrances out there. Without doubt, one of the greatest men’s fragrances is Creed’s Irish Tweed. Originally commissioned for Cary Grant, it’s combinations of woody and floral tones is very distinguished and is the kind of thing not forgotten in a hurray (particularly by ladies)

It’s not cheap (£45 for 30ml), but then the bottle I bought 5 years ago is still going strong (admittedly I don’t wear it too often). Try Escentual online or Liberty in London

Easy4Men Aftershave Balm
While the aim, to provide no-nonsense grooming products at a reasonable price, is laudable; couldn’t they have done something with the colour ?
