A website of one man’s vintage omega collection.

He also has this for sale, which is beautiful, but a bit beyond my budget.

TW Steel

TW STEEL – a range of watches very similar, but cheaper than my U-Boat chronograph (which in turn was rather influenced by the rather more expensive Panerai). Unfortunately they are quartz rather than automatic, or they may have had one more buyer.

And Chotovelli have more similar watches…

Astronomer’s Watch

Posted on by 0 comment

In the spirit of the Seiko Earth Watch, comes this Astronomers’ watch, the Astrodea from Citizen. $365 apparently.
What is it about the Japanese and celestially inspired watches?

UPDATE: A lot cheaper (but nowhere near as pretty) is the planisphere watch.

Seiko SKX031

Posted on by 0 comment

SKX031My latest watch was a £75 purchase from eBay, a Seiko SKX031. It’s an automatic, which is great for people (like me) who are too lazy to change the battery and consequently have a pile of stopped watches sitting on the side.
I got the strap adjusted at a great little jeweller’s in Shaftesbury Avenue, Mr. Chan’s. Mr Chan himself is very knowledgeable about watches, and identified my 1970 Rolex Airking as I walked in (he even pointed out it didn’t have its original strap)!
